The former Bay State governor may have fallen short in his last bid for the White House but his new book, “No Apology: The Case for American Greatness,” is headed for the top of the New York Times [NYT] bestseller list.
It also placed 20th on Amazon.com’s list of fastest-selling books.
“He’s obviously got a following,” said University of Virginia political scientist Larry Sabato. “He got millions of votes in 2008. He’s at least the early front-runner for the GOP nomination in 2012.”
Romney’s touted tome comes on the heels of another runaway Republican bestseller by former vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin. Securing the coveted Times top ranking won’t automatically punch his ticket to the GOP nomination, however.
“What it says is he’s a prominent candidate in the hunt for the Republican nomination,” Sabato said. “Some people might just be curious and may not be buying what he’s selling.”
