Mitt Romney Says He Will Make 2012 Presidential Decision At Year’s
Fox News, March 4, 2010
Former Massachusetts Governor and 2008 presidential candidate Mitt Romney has already decided on a timeline for announcing a possible 2012 run for the White House.
In an interview with MyFox Boston Thursday, Romney insisted he had not yet made up his mind about a second run for the White House. However, the man who finished runner-up to John McCain in 2008 has already envisioned the timeframe for a possible rollout.
Asked by MyFox Boston’s anchor Kim Carrigan if he would run for president, Romney replied: “I haven’t made that decision yet. That’s something we’ll decide when we have to, which is going to be probably at the end of the year, or even a little after that.”
Romney was on the show promoting his new book “No Apology: The Case for American Greatness.”
The former governor certainly sounded like he was in campaign mode.
“I think there is a growing attitude around the country that things are going in the wrong direction, that Washington is not making the kind of progress it needs to on people’s number one priority, which is getting good jobs and better incomes,” Romney said.
“Washington has diverted talking about health care now for, what? A year and a quarter? And they want to see change and they don’t like the direction of the change they’ve seen.”
Romney also addressed his recent skirmish with rapper Sky Blu aboard an Air Canada flight en route to Los Angeles. The rapper lashed out at Romney after he said the former Governor grabbed him with a “Vulcan grip” and asked him to make sure his seat was in the upright position.
Romney laughed off the incident.
“I don’t know what was going on in his mind, but there’s no ill will there. He called me his ‘homeboy’ the other day and I thought well that’s very nice and I haven’t heard his music but I wish him well and don’t have any hard feelings… If he comes up with some great music, I’ll give it a hear.”
